Police probe gym fire

POLICE are treating a fire at a Berwick gym on Tuesday night as suspicious.
Crews from Berwick, Dandenong, Hallam and Bayswater attended the building fire on Enterprise Avenue about 8.30pm on 2 February after flames were observed.
CFA District 8 Acting Operations Officer Andrew Turner said the fire gutted two small factories.
Minor damage was also caused to adjoining buildings.
“The fuel loads inside the building like foam mattresses caused a lot of heat and thick black smoke to issue from the building,” Mr Turner said.
“It was an intense, confined space fire.”
CFA crews will be back at the scene today to investigate the incident.
Anyone with any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or submit a confidential crime report to www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
