THERE was hair everywhere at Fountain Gate this week.
A special World’s Greatest Shave event was held at the shopping centre on Saturday 12 March and raised more than $1500 on the day.
Pakenham’s Rebecca Callow, who organised the event, raised close to her goal of $5000.
Naomi Horsley, who also helped organise the event, said the day was a great success.
“The event was incredible and we ended up shaving about 15 people and raising over $1500 on the day,” Ms Horsley said.
“Johnee Auvale and Tenealle Auvale from The Biggest Loser came along to support our event and even did a fitness squat challenge with some of the crowd.”
Ms Callow registered for the 2016 edition of the fund-raiser back in August 2015 and described the cause as being “pretty close to her heart”.
“I did it because both of my parents have gone through cancer in the last few years.
“I wanted to do something to raise money for cancer,” Ms Callow said.
Each March more than 150,000 people get sponsored to shave or colour their hair through the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave and support Australians with blood cancer and fund research.
