Kids on the run

RUNNING was made extra fun at a Hampton Park school this month.
On Tuesday 22 March students from Kilberry primary pounded the pavement in an effort to raise extra money for their school, collecting more than $14,000 in extra funding through the Adidas School Fun Run.
The initiative has been running Australia-wide since 1987, with participating schools raising over $85 million in extra funding.
Many schools rely on this funding to enhance facilities and upgrade school equipment.
“The fun run meant everyone could get out of the classroom and stretch their legs. The students were keen to show off their sporting skills,” Adidas School Fun Run organiser Lachlan Clydesdale said.
“Parents also enthusiastically supported the initiative as it steered students away from traditional fund-raising events that centred around junk food.”
In addition to individual school efforts, program partner CUA also donated a further $325,000 to schools through their Community Care initiative.
All schools can register their interest or find more information on hosting an Adidas School Fun Run via www.schoolfunrun.com.au
