NARRE Warren North MP Luke Donnellan hopes that the upcoming state budget will include funding for a “much-needed” new facility at Fountain Gate Secondary College.
Mr Donnellan, also Victoria’s Roads and Ports Minister, visited the school on Wednesday to lobby for a new gym and extra car parking at the school.
He said he had been lobbying for the funding for about two years.
“We’re committed to delivering for local schools and this is an important step in building a better Fountain Gate Secondary College,” he said.
“We need to see funding for a much-needed larger gymnasium so the school can continue to grow and serve the community’s needs.
“We need to invest in our young people so they can have access to quality local public education to give them the best start in life.”
A spokesperson for Mr Donnellan said a new gym at the school would include change rooms, aerobic fitness rooms, indoor-outdoor recreation spaces, a first-aid room, storage room, a cafeteria, and teaching and community spaces.
