A BERWICK man is in custody and assisting police with inquiries over a suspicious fire last year at a newly renovated South Melbourne hotel, part owned by a famed Collingwood football player.
Port Phillip Crime Investigation Unit detectives arrested the 47-year-old at a Malvern address about 9am on Wednesday 13 July, following an investigation into the destruction of what would be The Albion roof top bar, part owned by AFL player Dane Swan.
The fire destroyed the York Street hotel on 5 October last year, days before it was due to open on 16 October.
