POLICE still don’t know why a car exploded at the Casey Central Shopping Centre car park over the weekend.
In a spectacular eruption of fire a man was in the car at the time of the explosion, about 10.20pm on Saturday 6 August.
The male driver was badly burnt and was taken by ambulance to The Alfred hospital.
Casey police believe the blaze was started by a gas bottle which exploded inside the car.
Nearby PSO officers rendered immediate assistance and police, ambulance and firies soon attended the scene.
The police investigation is ongoing, any witnesses are urged to contact the Narre Warren Police Station on 9705 3111.
