A HOMEWORK club at Gleneagles Secondary College to help its diverse student body has taken out an education award.
The college won the Outstanding School category in the Centre for Multicultural Youth’s MY Education Awards on 8 September.
Gleneagles student wellbeing co-ordinator Maxine Foster said the achievement was due to “all in all, great work done by many”.
The homework club is staged by teachers as well as tutors from Monash University’s Embrace Education program each Thursday.
Among the helpers were several ex-students who assist the college’s VCE students from various backgrounds.
The college has also branched out into holding a VCE information session for Dari and Persian-speaking parents to talk about the expectations on VCE students.
Senior Gleneagles students have also helped at Mossgiel Park Primary School’s family homework club.
