A BERWICK school has offered visitors the chance to experience blindness at an open school event.
Insight Education Centre for the Blind and Vision Impaired invited people to walk from Buchanan Park to the centre with blind students along a dedicated accessibility footpath on 28 October.
The participants then wore a blindfold around its sensory garden and playground.
Students then rode on the centre’s accessible bike track on scooters and tricycles donated by Bicycle Superstore and City of Casey, and competed against guests in a ‘swish’ table tennis tournament.
Insight principal Timothy Hemphill said “sighted visitors” would marvel at the skill of their students.
“We believe it’s not about what students can’t do, but what they can, despite challenges and obstacles.”
Looking forward
