POLICE are trying to contact an unknown Indian woman who spooked a couple of female thugs and stopped them robbing two 14-year-old girls on 31 October.
The two young women were walking along Magid Drive at 3pm after leaving the Fountain Gate Shopping Centre when they were approached from behind by a silver BMW.
Two girls described to be about 17 years of age got out of the car and demanded the younger girls hand over their mobile phones while two males waited in the car.
When they refused, the two older girls assaulted the younger ones leaving both of them with minor cuts and bruises.
Before the older girls could further assault the younger ones and take their possessions by force, they were scared back into the car by a nearby witness.
An Indian woman was walking through the nearby carpark of the Narre Warren Bowls Club when she was spotted by the older girls and they left the scene.
The two younger girls spoke with the woman but as she could not speak fluent English and did not have a mobile phone, she could not provide the immediate help they needed.
One of the older girls was described as Caucasian with long blonde hair, about 152cm tall, wearing a grey hoodie, black leggings and lots of make-up, and
The other older female was also described as a Caucasian with long brown hair, also about 152cm tall and wearing a baggy jacket, possibly maroon or dark in colour with ugg boots.
Police are keen to speak with the Indian witness of the assault to commend her for helping the young girls as best she could.
Police urge any other witnesses of the incident or anyone who is aware of those involved to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 000 333.
