Car fires prompt safety fears

A SPATE of car fires in the Narre Warren area over the last week has police concerned with public safety.
One of the car fires was attended by police at 9pm on Thursday 10 November on Centre Road in Narre Warren.
When police arrived on scene, the 1990s model Toyota sedan was completely destroyed.
Detectives were able to determine the number plates on the car were stolen about four days earlier from the Dandenong area.
Another car fire was attended by police at 3.50pm the following day on Strathaird Drive in Narre Warren South.
Unknown persons had lit a fire under the rear of a VE model Holden Commodore, causing minor damage to the car.
Luckily, the fire was quickly put out by the occupant of a nearby house.
In a third incident in four days, police were called to another car fire where a car had been dumped and set alight at the Max Pawsey Reserve in Fountain Drive in Narre Warren.
Police arrived on scene about 5am on Sunday 13 November to find a 1998 Nissan Pulsar completely engulfed by flames.
After the CFA had extinguished the fire, police determined that the Nissan had been stolen from the Dandenong area on Monday 7 November.
