TWO Narre Warren South P-12 College students have been handed scholarships and vast praise from local MP and parliamentary education secretary Judith Couacaud Graley.
Dylan Henry and Anagha Ramachandra were awarded the Lynne Kosky Memorial VCAL Scholarship and the Denese Bartlett Memorial Scholarship respectively.
Dylan, an aspiring electrician as well as a Narre Warren CFA volunteer, received $5000 a year for up to five years for study, training or an apprenticeship.
He is studying for his Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning, with work placement at AGL Contracting.
“Dylan is an outstanding young man and leader who has already given so much back to his local community,” Ms Graley said.
“He is already looking forward to planning a VCAL concert or sports event for his school next year as well.”
The scholarship is named after late former Education Minister Lynne Kosky who introduced VCAL.
Anagha had been nominated by her teachers for her leadership, assisting of others and outstanding academic results.
“Anagha completed two Year 12 subjects this year, going above and beyond to achieve outstanding marks, as well as supporting her peers through study groups,” Ms Graley said.
“Anagha’s teachers have told me that she is often the first to arrive in the morning and often the last to leave and I have no doubt that she will continue to excel at whatever she chooses to do.”
The scholarship is presented annually by Ms Graley to a female Year 11 student at Narre Warren South P-12.
It is named after Denese Bartlett who led the campaign for the college’s creation.
