Police unload on DIY gun maker

A HAMPTON Park man has been arrested after police found him in possession of a homemade firearm.
The Operational Response Unit of Victoria Police were patrolling parklands near Silvan Grove in Hampton Park, about 3am on Monday 12 December, when they approached the man.
The 24-year-old man ran from police and officers pursued and the man was placed under arrest.
Upon searching him, police found the man with a homemade firearm and ammunition.
The man complained of having a medical condition and after he was discharged from hospital, he was taken into police custody.
The investigation in ongoing but at this stage police don’t believe he is connected to the case of the 3D printed weapons found during raids in Melbourne’s south-east on 11 December.
