Talent harnessed, enhanced

By Cam Lucadou-Wells

PROLIFIC singer-songwriter Kerrigan La-Brooy is offering his expertise to students for – what you could call – a song.
The Berwick father of six says he is launching his non-profit Triple Treat Talent Academy to offer affordable and non-exploitative tuition for budding actors, singers and dancers.
“I’m aware there are many children out there with unrecognised abilities due to the fact that parents can’t afford to harness and enhance their talent.”
The academy’s students will stage an end-of-year production, with them and their families sharing the profits, Mr La-Brooy said.
“I strongly believe that children should be remunerated for their talent and their efforts – and families too, for the time they invest in their children’s welfare.”
Mr La-Brooy said the academy was a natural step after putting his successful international career on hold for several years to tend for his children.
He plans to complete an album, including gospels, involving his children.
“Now that my youngest is three (years old) and they’re old enough to join me, I’m picking up where I left off.”
The Sri Lankan-born entertainer has a long list of chart-topping country and rock n’roll tracks in mainstream worldwide, European and Australian markets.
Recently he opened Casey’s Christmas Eve carols, and has been booked a year in advance for this year’s concert.
“Fans can rest assured that when Kerrigan preaches the Word of God, it will be with a song in his heart,” he said.
The academy will be launched at 10 Blake Street, Berwick, at 1pm on 28 January. Details: Kerrigan, 0404 875 647.
