China crew jetsets out

Casey mayor Sam Aziz says he’ll make “no apologies” for City of Casey’s ‘economic partnership’ delegation which has flown out for a week’s tour of China.
Cr Aziz, Cr Wayne Smith and two council officers flew out for their trip to Sichuan province and Shanghai on 4 April.
They are expected to return to Melbourne on 11 April.
The delegation’s mission was to attract jobs and investment to Casey-Cardinia, Cr Aziz said.
It also wanted to forge a long-term economic agreement with a Chinese council, city or region.
“By sitting across a table with Chinese authorities, Casey will have the best chance of identifying opportunities to create trade and economic development, leading to jobs.”
“While it will take some time to realise the benefits of the economic partnership delegation, I’m convinced it will reap the rewards for our city.
“I make no apologies for being ambitious. Sitting on our hands at home is not an option.”
Among the party’s stops are Dujiangyan Irrigation System, Xujia vegetable farm, Industrial Park of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Victorian Government business offices, Australian Chamber of Commerce West China and Shanghai, and Huawei Research and Development Centre.
