School opening

By Cam Lucadou-Wells

A stunning multi-purpose centre and junior school building have been opened at Waverley Christian College in Narre Warren South.
The project, which includes a gymnasium, auditorium, drama room, music room and 10 classrooms, received $1.3 million from the federal capital grants program for non-government schools.
Senator Mitch Fifield, on behalf of Education and Training Minister Simon Birmingham, opened the buildings on 18 September to the backdrop of the school’s jazz band.
The funding is designed to improve independent schools, who may not otherwise be able to provide adequate facilities.
“These new learning spaces take into account the latest in education research and will see
students learn more effectively,” Mr Fifield said.
