Kids and retirees have teamed up to help give dogs a home – at least a more comfortable one.
Beaconsfield Primary School students had recently raised money for three new kennels at the Lost Dogs Home pound at Cranbourne West.
The kennels were built by Akoonah Park Men’s Shed members led by Maurie Hall, and then painted by the students.
The students also designed a magnet with responsible pet ownership tips.
The enterprise was part of a Live Out Loud program, which encouraged students to conceive and organise positive community projects.
In their own newspaper article on the project, the students stated they wanted to “make a difference” on animal cruelty.
Or to use their pun, put a “paws” on such cruelty.
