$1.4 million TattsLotto mystery winner found: Ticket in purse the whole time

A woman from Berwick has burst into tears upon hearing confirmation she won more than $1.4 million in TattsLotto’s $30 million Megadraw more than a fortnight ago.

The unregistered winner was one of 21 division one winners across Australia in TattsLotto, draw 3803 on 30 December 2017, who each took home a division one prize of $1,428.584.98.

As her winning entry was not registered to a Tatts Card, Tatts officials had no way of contacting the winner to break the division one winning news.

The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, purchased her winning 12-game entry at Berwick Springs Lotto and News, Kiosk 2, at Eden Rise Shopping Centre, Berwick.
She admitted her winning entry had been in her purse the whole time and that she had been too busy diving into the New Year to check it until now.

“Are you sure?” the woman cried when her new millionaire status was confirmed by a Tatts official.

“I don’t know what to say!

“I had the ticket in my purse – we’ve been really busy and I just thought I’d check it today,” she said.

“I thought maybe I’d won $10,000 or something. We get excited when we win $30!

“This is just a bit too much! I just can’t believe it!

“It’s just such a once in lifetime thing! For some reason I just thought ‘it’s near New Year so let’s buy a ticket’. I don’t even know why I thought to check the ticket today. It’s just meant to be.”
She said: “It’s just wonderful news! This is just life-changing!”

The overwhelmed winner plans to use her Megadraw windfall to pay off some debts and set herself up for the future.

Berwick Springs Lotto and News owner Bernard Aulia said he was thrilled the prize had been united with its rightful owner.

“It’s good to know someone has claimed that prize. We’ve had a lot of people coming in asking if the winner had come forward,” he said.

“This is our third division one win in three years! Hopefully a lot more to come too!”

Four of the division one winning entries were purchased in Queensland, three from New South Wales, five from Victoria, two from Tasmania, two from South Australia, and five from Western Australia.

Along with the division one winning entry from Berwick, the other Victorian entries were purchased from Colac, Wendouree, Rye and Coburg.

The six winning numbers in the $30 Million Megadraw (draw 3803) on Saturday 30 December, 2017 were 6, 30, 9, 35, 27 and 37, while the supplementary numbers were 4 and 14.

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 240 so far this financial year, including 85 won by Tatts customers.
