Casey acting CEO replaced

By Cam Lucadou-Wells

Casey Council has switched acting chief executives, a month after its long-acting CEO Mike Tyler’s sudden departure.
Steve Dalton, the council’s director of Bunjil Place Construction, was announced as the new acting chief executive on 21 March.
He replaces Sheena Frost, who had acted as chief executive from 23 February.
Mayor Geoff Ablett said Mr Dalton was “well placed to lead Casey through the transition to a new CEO”.
“Steve led the delivery of the world-class Bunjil Place on-time and on-budget.”
Mr Dalton would stay until an “extensive” recruitment process for the position was complete, Cr Ablett said.
Casey Council has not commented on why Ms Frost was replaced as acting chief executive.
Ms Frost presided over a Casey council meeting the night before the switch was announced.
During the meeting’s public question time, Casey Residents and Ratepayers Association member Brendan Browne asked the council to provide details of Mr Tyler’s severance pay and entitlements.
The council declined to comment on the grounds of confidentiality.
Mr Browne also asked if any staff departed in February as a result of audits and investigations.
Casey declined to disclose details on the grounds that it was “prohibited” information under data-protection law.
At the meeting, Ms Frost said “not a given” that audit and investigation reports were released publicly.
Cr Aziz said the reality was that the council had “absolutely nothing to hide” but was bound by legislation not to comment on the matters publicly.
