Walk for learning

Walkers stepped out in support for education in Timor Leste during a fundraiser at Wilson Botanic Park on 20 May.

The Walk for Timor raised more than $1000 for learning materials at two English language study centres in the municipality of Ermera.

The centres are key to young people learning English and opening up a range of study and career options, spokeswoman Jan Trezise said.

The walk was organised by Casey-based group Friends of Ermera and Year 9 students from Gleneagles Secondary College.

It was followed by nourishing homemade soup, fresh fruit and cakes.
