A commitment to raising funds for war veterans has landed two volunteers of the Berwick RSL sub-branch awards for their outstanding leadership.

Appeals leader Sue Clark and deputy appeals leader Les Lucas have dedicated their time in running successful Anzac and Poppy Appeals for the past 10 years.

The pair was each presented certificates of commendation for their outstanding efforts by RSL Victoria president Dr Rob Webster OAM, and state secretary Mick Annett on Sunday 15 July.

President Wayne A’Vard, Berwick RSL praised the two volunteers for their focus on recruiting and leading volunteers in covering a large number of locations across Casey-Cardinia.

Ms Clark said without volunteers and the community they couldn’t look after veterans.

“It is our fabulous volunteer collectors we wish to thank, who so generously gave their time day after day, some travelled over 20 kilometres, but most importantly the community for their support. We could not achieve any of this without you,” she said.

Mr A’Vard said the event was an important part of the club’s annual activities, “with good food, cheer and sharing tales of engaging the buying public, who we give thanks in their support of veterans.”
