Nine children from Casey will be heading to Newcastle, NSW to showcase their talents in musical theatre in front of professional theatre artists from Australia and Broadway for the Junior Theatre Celebration at the end of October.
Players Theatre Company is taking 20 children, aged between eight and 18 to the event to perform for the first time from Friday, 26 October to Saturday, 27 October.
A select few will also be invited to travel up a week before to participate in a pilot program and will perform alongside other children from around Australia in ‘Sister Act Jr’ which will open the celebration on the Friday night.
John Foreman and Lucy Durak are adjudicating and the children also get to be involved in workshops with these professionals.
Then nine Casey children are Cooper James,Charlize James, Ebony Portelli, Emily Franklin, Lillyarna Waters, Kaleb Parkinson, Jessie McGuigan, Abbey McGuigan and Georgia Neilson.
The director Victoria Rendall and Choreographer Melia Bell are also from Casey.
Ms Rendall has been a Players Theatre Company committee member for nearly 10 years and teaches performing arts at Kilberry Valley Primary school in Hampton Park.
Ms Bell is a 16 year old student at St. Francis Xavier Secondary College in Beaconsfield.
