Local scouts awarded

City of Casey Cr Rex Flannery, from the Springfield Ward, had the pleasure of witnessing Narre Warren North scout Brodie Sherriff and Narre Warren scout Bridget Shields receive the Joey Scout Promise Challenge Award on Thursday night, 30 August.

The Joey Scout promise Challenge Award is the highest award and to receive the badge, Brodie and Bridget had to complete and earn four other badges.

The four badges include the Caring and Sharing Badge, the Buddy Scheme Badge, the Environmental Challenge Badge and the Adventure Challenge Badge.

The aim of the challenge is to gain a greater understanding of the scouts promise and law, and to learn about its founder Lord Baden Powell (BP) and the history of scouting.

“We see children on computers and playing games and here we have Brodie and Bridget learning about being good citizens,” Mr Flannery said.

If you have a child who would like to be involved in cubs or scouts contact your closest scout troupe.
