The Berwick Men’s Discussion Group started in 2009 and will shortly reach 10 years of service to the City of Casey.
Men’s discussion groups were first established in NSW in the late 1990’s.
They were set up in recognition of the unique issues faced by many men as they near or enter retirement.
Since then many groups have commenced, using the same principals and continue to function successfully with men growing in stature as a result of their participations.
“The aim was to create a safe male sharing environment where men can meet and discuss matters with confidence and trust, on issues that may affect their daily lives and to provide support, encouragement and assistance while coping with various stages of lifestyle changes,” Berwick group facilitator Brian Regan said.
“The meetings have no set agenda take no minutes and have a privacy agreement between participants.
“We welcome other like-minded seniors over 50 years old, who may benefit from the simulation of the group participation to share and respect the ideas and opinions of others while drawing upon others experience and knowledge.”
