Lucky Berwick man scratches big win

A family man from Berwick is merrily mapping out how he’ll use his windfall of $1000 a week for the next five years – one of the top prizes he won on a $5 Instant Scratch-Its Live the Life ticket.

The thrilled winner purchased his winning ticket from Berwick Springs Lotto and News, Kiosk 2, Eden Rise Village, 1 O’Shea Road, Berwick.

“Mate, it was fantastic!” the thrilled Melbourne man exclaimed when speaking with a Tatts official to claim his prize.

“My wife and I bought four Instant Scratch-Its on the weekend and this was the first one I scratched. We looked at each other for about half an hour asking ‘Is it? Isn’t it?’.

“You know it in your own head, but until you guys could confirm it you just can’t quite believe it. You wonder if it is real or if there has been a mistake.”

The Berwick Instant Scratch-Its aficionado admitted he was reluctant to leave his winning ticket anywhere until he could deliver it to Tatts’ doorstep.

“We didn’t leave the house all weekend. We haven’t gone out. We didn’t want to leave the house in case there was a fire or something. These are the strange things that go through your mind,” he laughed.

“I looked for somewhere safe to put the ticket and I ended up shoving it in an old birthday card in the drawer.

“This weekend we’re going to sit down and work on our bucket list. That’s how we’ll treat it. We won’t go nuts. It’s a good way to get the prize – having something each week. We can plan it out and that’s really exciting.”
