A Volkswagen Golf was intercepted by police on Parkhill Drive, Berwick after it was detected travelling at 74km/h in the 60km/h zone.
The driver, a 37 year old man from Hampton Park was found to only be the holder of a learners permit and did not have an experienced driver accompanying him or L plates displayed.
The driver received a total of $1289 in infringement notices and three demerit points.
