Narre Warren Mechanics Institute Hall was set up with the 31 paintings and accompanying description/history boards for visitors to admire for the Armistice 100 Year Art Exhibition over the weekend, Saturday, 27 October and Sunday, 28 October.

The dignitaries invited guests and artists numbered approximately 90.

The exhibition was to acknowledge the commitment, courage and sacrifice of our WW1 services.

“We aimed to highlight the importance to the public and to assist to educate our next generation,” Provenance Artists vice president Judy Owen said.

“The event was only the first part of this outstanding exhibition to educate the public about the horrors, heroinism’s and deeds of the Australian and other personnel between 1914 and 1918 and to honour their commitment.

“Provenance Artist were thrilled and extremely proud to receive a substantial Government grant to fund the Holt Armistice, 100-year Anniversary Art Exhibition, which was encouraged and supported by Federal Member for Holt, Mr. Anthony Byrne.”

Ms Owen said they were also extremely pleased to have the support and guidance of the president Mr. John Wells Order of Australia of the Dandenong/Cranbourne RSL through this task.

“His only request was that the artists show emotion in their work, and on viewing the pieces of art this is evident,” she said.

“To have 22 local and Australian artists to be chosen with such an important opportunity to honour those that gave their all for Australia.”

This exhibition will be travelling around the City of Casey.

The next showing will be at Casey Central from 5 to11, November.

Provenance Artists are in discussion with Cranbourne RSL and Berwick RSL. Dates will be confirmed shortly.

Some of the artwork will be hung in local schools and libraries.
