Detectives have been told three men were walking south along Coral Drive, Hampton Park about 5.30pm on Wednesday 31 October when they were approached by occupants in a white Volkswagen sedan who threw eggs at them.
A verbal confrontation ensued between the victim and the occupants of the vehicle, before one of the men were punched in the head in nearby Pauline Court.
The two men and two women then fled in the VW sedan with one of the men’s phone and speaker.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a number of robberies in Melbourne’s south overnight believed to be committed by the same group of offenders.
