Two people hospitalised

Two people have been taken to hospital following a multi vehicle crash on the Monash Freeway in Berwick on Thursday 28 February.

A man in his forties was taken by road ambulance to The Alfred Hospital in a stable condition and with an injury to his chest, Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman Lina Hawi said.

A woman in her twenties was taken by road ambulance to Dandenong Hospital in a stable condition and with an injury to her back, she said.

A CFA spokesperson said the collision involved four cars and a truck.

Motorists experienced major delays with two lanes closed outbound before the Clyde Road exit.

VicRoads said traffic was banked up to Endeavour Hills and Doveton. Traffic was also heavy from Heatherton Road.

VicRoads engineers were on scene tweaking traffic light sequences to help ease congestion.

An assembly of fire trucks were on scene with CFA crews from Berwick, Nar Nar Goon, and Dandenong in attendance.
