Golfing in colour for palliative care

The colours of life are coming to the golfing greens next Monday, for Berwick Montuna Golf Club’s annual Colours of Life Charity golf day.

On Monday 27 May, around 82 golfers are expected to hit the fairway for 18 holes of golf, all in the name of charity. Players will compete in three sections: a female team of two, a male team of two and a mixed team of two. Clubs from around the region are able to take part.

All funds raised on the day will go to Casey Hospital Palliative Care.

Berwick Montuna Ladies captain De’Arne Gipp said it’s a cause that’s close to the club’s heart.

“One of our lady members works there,” she explained.

“She’s going to speak on the day and maybe one of her ward coordinators as well. This is the second year in a row that we’ve donated to them.”

Last year around $1100 was raised with just 68 players, so the bar has been set for this year. While no dress code has been stipulated, she said people would most likely turn up in their colourful best.

Businesses from in and around Beaconsfield have donated vouchers and items to a raffle to be held on the day which is expected to raise even more money for the cause.
