Rusciano captivates Fountain Gate

More than 70 guests packed a foyer in Fountain Gate shopping centre recently to hear from comedian and broadcaster Emelia Rusciano.

Ms Rusciano was at the centre as part of the Westfield Women in Conversation event series.

Michelle Clarkson, Westfield regional brand experience manager Victoria, said the event tied in with this year’s theme of ‘change’.

“We want to provide hundreds of women with some me time and some time out so they can hear how some of our most inspiring ladies have found liberation through change in the face of adversity. Life doesn’t always go to plan, and it can be quite inspiring to hear how others have faced challenges,” she explained.

She said Ms Rusciano captivated the room for the full one-and-a-half hour conversation with host Jamila Rizvi, which was wide-ranging and intimate.

“The discussion was around how her life didn’t go to her original plan but how she’s rolled with that, built an amazing career, and how there can be joy in that chaos even when things don’t go to plan because the journey’s different for everyone,” Ms Clarkson said.

While 70 people had booked tickets, others crammed the foyer to hear more, which Ms Clarkson said showed the demand for these types of events.

“Being a bit away from the city, we want to make sure we can bring those unique experiences to our local customers and share in creating those successes whether in their personal life or careers,” she said.
