School rallies for heartfelt donations

Narre Warren South P-12 College’s Year 11 VCAL students have banded together to raise $6,000 for various charities.

During an assembly on Monday 28 October, students presented cheques to Breast Cancer Network Australia, Leukaemia Foundation and Starlight Foundation.

VCAL leader Flynn Wilkinson said the donations, which was part of the school’s Pay it Forward program, was a highlight on the College calendar.

Money was raised through a VCAL concert, sports day, breakfast, trivia competition and a 48km ‘Walk to the City’.

“All these projects are student-led and places in the various organising groups are highly sought after. This speaks to the pride that the students take from their achievements,” he said.

In 2018, the school raised $20,000 with $15,000 of this going towards a student at the College, Ace Bryans – providing for the purchase of a new motorised wheelchair, bringing the school to tears.

The school has raised an incredible $106,000 for charities since 2006.
