Man hit with a pole

A man who refused to hand over his wallet and phone to thugs was taken to hospital after allegedly being struck with a pole in Hampton Park.

Police say a 22-year-old man from Lyndhurst, was approached by a group who made demands for his belongings about 4.25am outside a Hallam road supermarket.

“The victim refused to hand over any items and he was struck with a metal pole,” Victoria Police spokeswoman Leading Senior Constable Melissa Seach said.

The man received non-life threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.

One of the offenders is described as 19-year-old, wearing a hoodie and track suit pants and perceived to be caucasian.
