Plan to enjoy the company of locals by celebrating Australia Day this January at one of four council-supported events. There will be all manner of fun on offer at the free family days that are happening in Berwick, Cranbourne, Hampton Park and Tooradin.
Casey mayor Susan Serey encouraged residents to head along with friends and family to enjoy the festivities and celebrate a shared vision of being Australian with the community.
“Australia Day is a great opportunity to come together to celebrate our rich and diverse cultural heritage and the things that make us proud to live in the City of Casey,” she said.
“It’s a day for fun and food and enjoying ourselves outdoors in one of the many public spaces we are so blessed to share, but it is also a day that offers us the chance to reflect on what it means to be Australian and on the many different paths by which we each came to be here.
“As part of our ongoing commitment to celebrating those who make up our community, Council is supporting four different groups to organise free Australia Day celebratory events. These days will include free food, children’s and family entertainment, live music and more,” she said.
Further to these events, Bunjil Place will play host to the Casey Australia Day Awards on the day, during which the City of Casey recognises those who consistently go above and beyond in their contribution to the Casey community as a volunteer, professional or community member.
“I look forward to joining others on Australia Day to celebrate those special individuals and community groups who give so much of themselves to bring their very best in the service of others,” Cr Serey said.
