The community is invited to have its say on Casey City Council’s 2020 electoral structure, following the release of a report from the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC).
Casey currently consists of 11 councillors elected from six wards.
The new options are:
Option A: 12 councillors elected from four three-councillor wards.
Option B: 12 councillors elected from four three-councillor wards, with different ward boundaries to Option A.
Option C: 12 councillors elected from six two-councillor wards.
Submissions responding to the preliminary report should address the options and must be received by the VEC by 5.00 pm Wednesday 4 March 2020. They can be made at vec.vic.gov.au, or by email or post.
A public hearing will be held at 6.00 pm on Wednesday 11 March 2020 at the Function Centre in Bunjil Place for anyone who has requested to speak in support of their submission. If there are no requests to speak, the hearing will not be held.
The preliminary report is available at vec.vic.gov.au and at Casey City Council offices.
