Berwick Show back for 171st year

One of the City of Casey’s longest standing local events will return next weekend when the Berwick Show comes to Akoonah Park for its 171st year.

Once again the council is the major sponsor of the show, which will run across an entire weekend from Saturday 22 – Sunday 23 February 2020.

City of Casey mayor Cr Susan Serey said that no matter what your age, the family fun event will have something to keep you entertained.

“The City of Casey has been a longstanding major sponsor of the Berwick Show and we are proud to be a part of this huge tradition,” she said.

“Rich in history and culture, the show is part of the fabric of the Berwick community and I encourage our residents to head along.”

With such a huge agricultural focus, Cr Serey added that the event is a fantastic way to support local farmers.

“The more involvement that our community has with this event, the more we are educating ourselves about our local agriculture and farmers, and what they contribute to our society,” she said.

“Farming is still a huge part of our community and we must support the people who help put the food on our tables.

“It’s a wonderful weekend for the entire family and something I look forward to each year,” Cr Serey said.

Recognised as one of the largest events in Casey, this is also an opportunity for local community groups and businesses to promote their work, with the added excitement of rides, showbags and plenty of freebies for the kids.

Plus, hang around on Saturday night to witness the always impressive fireworks display at 9.30pm.
