A bottle shop in Hampton Park is appealing for the public’s help after a man sporting socks and sandals allegedly took off with an expensive bottle of liquor without paying.
The incident occurred when the man, believed to be aged in his 20s, attended the Bottlemart store on Kirkwood Crescent about 9pm on Tuesday, 25 February.
The store’s owner Harry Xing said within a matter of seconds the man had walked into the shop before selecting a one litre bottle of Johnny Walker black label worth $80 and making a dash.
Mr Xing, who has been running the store for three months, said he was in the cool room at the time while his wife was also at the back of the store when thief pounced.
His wife saw the man running from the shop, however was not seen fleeing in a car.
The man was caught on security cameras wearing a grey and black hoodie with ‘Zoo York’ emblazoned on the front, sunglasses, black shorts and white socks with Adidas sandals.
Mr Xing said he hadn’t contacted the police at this stage in the hope someone recognised the man and contacted the shop.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the store on 8764 8785.
