Active cases remain at 11

No new infections of Covid have been in reported in Casey City – which remained at 11 active cases since yesterday.

The council’s area total number of cases remained at 68.

Greater Dandenong’s infections remained steady on 18 with one active case while Cardinia had 16 and zero active cases.

In the past day, Victoria’s cases rose by seven to 1670. Of them, 1569 have recovered.

There have been 176 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Victoria that have been acquired through unknown transmission.

Nine Covid-19 patients are in hospital including two in intensive care. Nineteen Victorians have died of the virus.

Of the new cases, six were detected in returned travellers in hotel quarantine and one case is under investigation.

None of the new cases are currently linked to any known outbreaks.

The department is currently working with Amcor Flexibles, a packaging factory in Port Melbourne, to test its workforce following the notification of a single case earlier this week.

A small number of staff who is close contacts of the case have been notified, tested and placed into quarantine.

As a precautionary measure, all other staff members at the factory have also been tested with no further positive results received so far. The factory has been closed for thorough cleaning however it is anticipated to reopen this afternoon pending test results.
