Police who found human remains during a search in Lysterfield are believed to be those of a 26-year-old Oakleigh South man.
Detectives from the Missing Persons Squad found the man’s body in a semi-rural area near Nixon Road in Lysterfield about 1.30pm on Wednesday 17 June.
Victoria Police say the man was last seen on 11 May and had been reported as a missing person.
“While a formal identification is yet to take place, it’s believed the deceased is a 26-year-old Oakleigh South man,” a Victoria Police statement said.
Victoria Police said the exact circumstances regarding the incident are yet to be determined.
Police are treating the discovery as suspicious but have yet to reveal the reasons why as this stage.
