In a touching gesture, New York Barbers in Berwick will be donating its Saturday profits to the family of a man who was tragically killed in a car accident in Emerald.

New York Barbers’ owner Mario said he had decided to donate the profits to the family, after learning that the man who died in the crash was the father of a New York Barbers’ employee.

A collection tin will also be placed in the shop, so that even those who aren’t customers can donate to the family.”It’s something we have the ability to do, and we want to do it in support of [the family],” Mario said.

“It’s one area I know we can help. It won’t bring her father back but it will take away from other pressures.”

He said news of the man’s death had hit staff at the shop hard, and that the man’s daughter was a much-loved member of staff.

“We need to stand by her and support her here and wherever we can.”

New York Barbers will open at 7am on Saturday 13 March and is located at 30 Adams Lane, Berwick. Donations are encouraged and appreciated.
