Double impound for bad drivers

The drivers were located within minutes of each other.

Casey Highway Patrol had a busy night at the end of March, impounding two vehicles within minutes of each other.

Initially, the unit intercepted a Toyota sedan driving on Monahans Road in Cranbourne.

The 33-year-old driver recorded a positive reading to alcohol in his system, a positive recording to illicit drugs in his system and to top it off he was unlicensed.

His vehicle was impounded for 28 days and he will face a magistrate to explain his poor choices at a later date.

Whilst the members were speaking to the driver, they could hear a car doing burnouts nearby.

They drove a few metres up the road and located a Holden Commodore sedan with smoking tyres and rubber on the road.

The 20-year-old driver had only ever held a Victorian learners permit and he had been driving without a licence holder present.

His car was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1004 and he will also face court at a later date.
