La Trobe MP Jason Wood is encouraging Men’s Sheds across the electorate to apply for funding as part of the newest round of the National Men’s Shed Development Programme (NDSP).

Opening during Men’s Health Week from 14-20 June, Mr Wood urged all sheds in La Trobe to apply for Round 22 of the NDSP.

“The last 18 months in Australia, particularly in Melbourne have been extremely challenging with Victorians subject to some of the longest lockdowns in the world,” he said.

“There is no doubt this has had a serious impact on the mental health of many, including men so I urge anyone who is understandably struggling to seek support.

“Men’s Sheds are friendly and inclusive settings where men can meet to work with tools and equipment, or just spend time together, to support each other’s mental and physical good health.”

He said the Federal Government was committed to ensuring that Men’s Shed members can stay in touch even through the pandemic, contributing through their work to their communities.

Men’s Sheds can apply for financial support across the following funding categories:

– Category 1: Health, Wellbeing, and Events $8000 maximum

– Category 2: Shed Improvements $8000 maximum

– Category 3: Equipment $5000 maximum

Applications for the next round of Men’s Sheds grants are open until 26 July 2021. Those wanting to submit an application can visit https://mensshed.org/development-grants
