Dog dead after Hampton Park incident

A dog and a man are dead after a tragic series of events in Hampton Park.

Police were called to reports of a dog attack and deceased male at a property on Lewisham Close, Hampton Park on Sunday 15 August at about 9am.

Upon attending the address, police were confronted by an aggressive dog.

They OC sprayed the dog however it continued to charge at members.

One officer discharged their firearm and the dog is now dead.

Upon entering the property, police found a man and woman, both in their 80s, with serious injuries after being attacked by the dog.

They have been taken to hospital.

Police then located a man, believed to be in his 40s, deceased in another room.

His death is not currently being treated as suspicious and is not believed to be linked to the dog attack.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.

Another man who was inside the property is uninjured and four other dogs have been removed by the council ranger.

Daniel Osborne, manager of Safer Communities at the City of Casey, said the council was investigating the attack.

“Council has seized the dogs from the property which were Staffordshire Terrier Cross,” he said.

“We urge anyone who witnessed the incident to contact our compliance team on 9705 5200.”
