Rumours have swirled on Facebook that Narre Warren North’s Bayview Park is closed during lockdown – but that’s not the case, the City of Casey has confirmed.
David Richardson, manager of city presentation at the City of Casey, said all the council’s parks and reserves – including the popular Bayview Park and Wilson Botanic Park Berwick – are open for residents to exercise in during lockdown provided the park is within their 5km radius.
However, playgrounds and skateparks across Casey remain closed for the time being in line with State Government restrictions.
“The City of Casey recognises how beneficial outdoor exercise in our beautiful parks and reserves are for community members, especially throughout these challenging times,” Mr Richardson said.
“Residents are reminded to always wear a mask both indoors and outdoors, remain 1.5 metres apart and follow the current Covid-19 restrictions, which currently permit people to exercise in public spaces once a day, for a maximum of two hours.”
