Section of South Gippsland Highway to close

Approximately 400 metres of the South Gippsland Highway’s south-bound carriage way will be closed from Monday 31 January to June 2022 as part of ongoing works to connect Glasscocks Road to the South Gippsland Highway.

The carriageway under construction will need to remain closed for the duration of that Stage of the project (including overnight), for the safety of all road users.

Glasscocks road currently finishes 350 metres short of the highway. The project will also including a signalised traffic intersection near Golf Club Road.

City of Casey has warned motorists to expect delays of up to 20 minutes when travelling through the area.

“Connecting Glasscocks Road to the South Gippsland Highway will provide an alternative east-west link to Thompsons Road, which is already experiencing significant congestion,” City of Casey said. “This will improve travel times and road safety for vehicles and pedestrians in the Cranbourne North area.”
