Food-based festival coming to Casey

Winter Arts Festival and Casey Cornucopia applications are now open.

The City of Casey is calling on local-based creatives and cultural organisations to take part in the 2022 Winter Arts Festival and Casey Cornucopia event.

Now in its 20th year, the Winter Arts Festival delivers a creative program that encourages arts participation, community pride and generates social, cultural and environmental benefits.

Community is at the heart of the festival and every offering in the program is either run by the community, for the community or created to shine a light on Casey’s vibrant arts culture.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Winter Arts Festival, council is planning a public event at Bunjil Place: Casey Cornucopia.

The food-based event will showcase the heritage of Casey’s food culture and the best produce in the region.

The event will be open to groups and organisations in the community who would like to present activities that tie into the themes of Casey Cornucopia.

Council said it encouraged local artists, choirs, theatre groups, dance troupes, community groups and venues to add their performance, activity or event to the festival program to help light up winter with creative inspiration.

Applications are open until Tuesday 8 March.
