International Women’s Day is right around the corner and Casey Cardinia Libraries is set to host a free event for Dari speakers, designed to promote women’s health.

The women’s only information session will focus on breast cancer and general women’s health with an interpreter translating for local Dari women.

English is not the first language for these women and many don’t know where to go for help within their community.

The information session will cover a number of topics to give Dari speakers the tools and resources they need.

Casey Cardinia Libraries is partnering with the The Water Well Project to present the information session – an Australian non-profit health promotion charity which aims to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities from migrant, refugee or asylum seeker backgrounds through health education.

Casey Cardinia Libraries chief executive officer Beth Luppino said she was proud to support International Women’s Day 2022.

“This year we celebrate with events on women’s health, body confidence and self-esteem,” Ms Luppino said.

“Our libraries continue to develop and promote the strength of women in our community and to support a gender equal world.”

The event will be held on Tuesday 8 March from 12pm at Hampton Park Library.
