Casey Kids Carnival to attract sold-out crowd

The City of Casey is gearing up for the return of the historic Casey Kids Carnival this weekend.

The free event, which has a 24 year history, has been cancelled for the past four years due to the Covid-19 pandemic and bad weather.

Tickets for the family event are sold-out, with 6500 carnival-goers expected to attend this Saturday from 12pm to 5pm at Berwick’s Old Cheese Factory.

Manager of Active Communities Angie Peresso said the City of Casey is “thrilled” to anticipate a full crowd at the festivities.

“We are looking forward to a wonderful event for Casey children and families with free activities including live performers and entertainers as well as interactive games, rides, face painting, art and craft and live animals,” she said.

Included in the live performances are Dirt Girl World, musician Olivia Mae, magician Charlie Sillypants and a number of independent performance schools.

20 year-old Olivia Mae, who is also a Casey local, said she is looking forward to playing for the crowd.

“I’ve done a couple of fairs and things before, and they’re just so full of joy,” she said.

“It’s just really cool. You feed off people’s energy when you play to a crowd, so I’m really excited.”

Parking will be available onsite, with left-turn entry only to avoid congestion on Homestead and Berwick Clyde Roads.
