Narre Warren man to be charged after traffic stop uncovers cash and drugs

Police intercepted a vehicle that ran a red light in Melbourne's CBD, only to uncover a larger amount of drugs and cash. 253041_13

A Narre Warren man was arrested in Melbourne’s CBD over the weekend, after a traffic stop resulted in police officers locating a large quantity of cash and drugs.

On Saturday 16 April police in the CBD observed a White Mercedes sedan run a red light at the corner of Russell and Little Collins Streets about 2.20pm.

The vehicle was intercepted a short distance away and the two male occupants were spoken to.

A search of the car was conducted, and police subsequently located more than $9000 cash and a large quantity of what is alleged to be cocaine.

Police say the alleged cocaine seized has a street value of over $100,000.

A 22-year-old Cardinia man a 23-year-old Narre Warren man were arrested at the scene.

Both men are being interviewed and are expected to be charged in relation to a commercial quantity of drugs.
