This week provides the final opportunity for local businesses to apply for the 2022-23 City of Casey Community Grants Program.
The program invites not-for-profit clubs and community groups to apply for $1000 to $5000 funding to provide projects, programs and events that benefit the local community.
To be eligible for the grant, you must be a registered not-for-profit club or community group, be based in the City of Casey or provide activities for Casey residents, meet specific financial criteria and develop a detailed project plan highlighting the benefits of what you are proposing.
Last year’s program saw 93 successful applicants from the Casey area receive funding for various projects.
Berwick Neighbourhood Centre received a $2000 grant to support its Goodtimes Gardening project, which allows locals to come together to socialise and reap the benefits of a community garden.
Berwick Neighbourhood Centre manager Kim Peterson said Covid delayed some aspects of the garden program, but the centre was still able to engage the local community in ‘all things gardening’.
“All those involved in the community garden and the Berwick Neighbourhood Centre are very grateful for the opportunity and support that the City of Casey Community Grants Program provides,” Ms Peterson said.
“The immediate and long term results for the centre to be able to engage more people in what they are interested in is priceless.”
Ms Peterson said the centre is in the process of building new garden beds to expand the garden.
Application for this year’s Casey Community Grants Program close at 5pm Tuesday 26 April, with successful applicants notified at the end of July 2022.
