Local commuters are being invited to provide feedback on new parking technology rolled out at train stations in Melbourne’s South East in recent months.
Since February this year, trial parking technology has been telling passengers at Beaconsfield and Berwick stations what car parking spaces are available before they even leave home.
The trial is part of the Labor Government’s Car Parks for Commuters Program, which is delivering upgrades at railway stations across the state.
Live car parking information is shared through the dedicated Smart Car Parking Trial app, providing real time information about where spaces are available.
A number of technologies have been trialled, including computer analysis of live camera feeds, and in-bay sensors to detect car park occupancy and usage.
The trial has been running for several months, with a survey now available for local commuters to share their feedback about the app and the live car parking information and how it has helped their travel choices.
Eastern Victoria Member Harriet Shing said the trial has been making it easier for passengers to plan their public transport journey.
“This survey will help us determine the next steps of the trial, so that we can continue to invest in smarter technology and make it easier for everyone to catch the train,” Ms Shing said.
Feedback from the survey will help inform a potential future rollout of the technology.

The survey closes Friday 15 July 2022.
